This week our featured artist is - Me, Amy the co-author of this great blog and driving force behind Giggleberry Creations! I though it was time for you all to meet the ones behind the Art for Autism blog. Drop in to my shop some time and check out my fabric banners or come past Giggleberry Creations the blog and see what's the latest happening in my world.
Tell us all about yourself and your craft?
I have the best job in the world - Wife and stay at home Mum! I have a wonderful, gorgeous, sexy, loving husband and two special girls. My beautiful 10 month old Milla and my, full of energy, 7 year old step daughter Felicity, who is autistic - it's a girly household! We are also pregnant and expecting a new addition to the family in February.
I have Felicity with me on Thursday afternoons, all day Fridays and weekends - implementing her play based therapy another great outlet for my energy. The rest of the week I spend juggling Milla and Giggleberry. Giggleberry is my online business hand making and selling fabric pennant strings or bunting as they are known in Australia. These are a fun and easy way to add color and character to your little one's nursery, bedroom, cubby hose, play area or maybe even for your craft show tent??
I love doing anything that involves my little family, being creative on the sewing machine and getting in and 'getting things done'!
How long have you been creating your craft?
I have always enjoyed sewing but started making my banners early this year. I made the first set for my daughter just after she was born to decorate her bedroom then made sets for friends, nieces, nephews, neighbors etc before I found etsy and began selling them in April this year.

What is one of the biggest lesson you have learnt about your craft & selling it?
Enjoy it!! If you don't enjoy what ever it is you do I believe you won't stick to it or do as good a job as someone who loves it!
Which of your items did you have the most fun creating & why?
I loved making the set of flags for my daughters room. My mum has a tradition of making a quilt for all her grandkids before they are born for their cots so when she was finished I asked for the left over fabric and from that I made Milla her own set of flags to hang above her cot.
At the moment I am making a gorgeous set out of Autism Awareness puzzle print fabric to use for decoration at a fundraiser we are having for Felicity - it's such a fun and bright set you can't help but enjoy making it!

Do you have any training in your craft?
Training..... I wouldn't say 'professional training' but when I was a little girl my mum would let my sisters and I sew with her sewing machine with paper and no cotton until we got the hang of it then we were able to sew for 'real'. I also enjoyed my textiles classes in early high school and loved the big end of year project we had to make something amazing for.
Is there a basic ‘household’ item you use when creating that seems to work just as good if not better than the actual ‘tool’?
Sure is, I use a chopstick for poking the corners out on my flags. It seems to be the perfect size and it works so well!

What is your favorite candy bar & why?
Above all a Mars Bar - straight from the fridge! I love them.
If money, responsibilities, and time were no issues where in the great wide world would you go & why?
Oh the choices....... I could go so many places I have been lucky enough (pre kids) to travel to Africa, Switzerland, Prague, China, USA, London, Malaysia and out of those Switzerland and Africa I would go back to in a heart beat but at the same time there are so many places I haven't been to yet too!! Although New York City was where my hubby proposed so I will always have a soft spot for that great city.
